Have You Met My Dark Passeneger?

Today’s instalment will be the last for my current five part series of Dollish Polish. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reviewing all seven of the polishes that I bought when Dollish had a sale Labour Day Weekend. There have been some surprise favourites (“Yo-Ho Yo-Ho, A Pirates Life For Me” and “Rock The Casbah”) and some that were nice but not quite what I had wanted them to be (“Tainted Love”). In the end, I would say that I love the polishes that Dolly has created. There is a unique feel to the glitter combinations and finishes of the polishes. While I did wish that some of them were less sheer, I think they will be workable and amazing if layered over like colours.

“Dark Passenger” was a limited edition polish that was made in honour of the TV series Dexter. I really enjoyed the series while it was in the first few seasons. After that my support started to wane and I stuck it out until the final season. I have actually yet to watch the last few episodes. While my love for the series was running in short supply by the time it ended, my love for this colour will definitely last on. The polish is no longer available to buy. So, I think I will be cherishing my little mini bottle of it. It will have to be one that comes out only when just the right circumstances arise. Continue reading

It’s Actually So Fluffy, I’m Hope I’m Not Gonna Die!

I’ve made some inroads towards getting all my Dollish Polish that I ordered Labour Day weekend reviewed. All I have left is “It’s so Fluffy, I’m Gonna Die!” and the Dexter inspired “Dark Passenger”. Today’s review is the fourth out of the current five part series. I’ve had some ups and some downs when it came to reviewing these polishes but my general feeling is one of love towards Dollish Polish. The polishes each have something unique in the looks. There’s something special about each and every one of them.

There is something really special about “It’s So Fluffy, I’m Gonna Die!” I will admit that I mostly bought this polish because I loved the name. Despicable Me is a very cute movie but it’s one that I actually quite enjoyed seeing when it came out. For those who know me, that’s kind of a big deal. I’m a bit of a grinch in the fact that I don’t really like movies very much. My friends know that a movie has to be on the amazing side of the spectrum for them to recommend it to me. I’m so happy that the colour of “It’s So Fluffy, I’m Gonna Die!” has lived up to the idea that I had in my head for it.

Dolly and I Will Be Rocking The Casbah!

This is the third post of my five part series of Dollish Polish reviews. They’re very fun and unique polishes to me. I might be completely wrong. There is a lot of the indie polish market that I have not stumbled onto yet. My coworkers look at my like I’m crazy when I say that I buy my polish on the internet and it’s not OPI, Essie, Zoya, or other more mainstream brands. I’m happy to be supporting independent companies and am loving the resulting polishes so far. That is not to say that I love every aspect of every polish that rolls into my home though. These polishes are ones that I both love and hate at the same time. Every polish opinion is very personal to the wearer though. Some people love sheers, others hate them. Some love glitter, others don’t. I’m giving my personal opinions on these polishes and hope that you can extrapolate what you would think of a polish based on the information that I give.

This review is for “Rock The Casbah”. It’s the lovely warm orange colour in the photo above. It has a mix of yellow, red and pink glitters in an almost neon orange base. I think this polish could be a neon if layered over white. The whole collection is supposed to be neon but I think since they’re all so sheer, they don’t come across as neon. Continue reading

My Love Has Been Tainted

L-R “Take A Chill Pill”, “Tainted Love”, and “Rock The Casbah”.

This is the second part of my five part series of Dollish polish reviews. The first three reviews in this series are for three of the polishes from their “That’s So 80’s” collection. They’re a mix of fun neons with and even more fun glitter mix. Today’s post will feature “Tainted Love”. This polish was the reason that this series was delayed. As you can see in the photo above, All of the glitter has sunk to the bottom of this polish. There seems to be something wrong with the suspension mixture in this polish. It might have something to do with the fact that these polishes have a very very thin consistency. I waited to do these reviews until I had a bottle of Nail Pattern Boldness’s “Glitter Food” in my greedy little paws. It was the only thing I could think that might save this polish from being one that I was going to hate. Continue reading

My Prescription For You Is To Take A Chill Pill

I apologize for the untimely nature of this post. I had a really unfortunate day yesterday filled with angry people and allergic reactions. So, instead of writing this, I slept the rest of my day away. This is the first of my five part series on the dollish polish that I ordered way back when, also know as the beginning of September. The first part of this series is a few from the collection titled “That’s So 80’s”. They’re “Take A Chill Pill”, “Tainted Love”, and “Rock The Casbah”. Today’s review is of “Take A Chill Pill”.

Take a Chill Pill is a very fun blue based jelly with yellow, black and blue glitters mixed throughout. As you can see from the photo above, the glitters in this one has the best suspension in the base. It was the first one that I chose to use from the company and I had somewhat mixed feeling about it. The colour was lovely and the glitters were easy to apply. It was very sheer on application though. This one didn’t really need any help with its suspension. I did add a little glitter food to it just to help it out a little though. The one that was in desperate need was “Tainted Love”, as you can see from the photo above” Continue reading

The Owl’s Return In Time For Fall

I’ve recently discovered a love for Butter London’s polishes. The application is dreamy and smooth and the colours are outstanding. I’ve found that I tend to need three coats for opacity but that could be a combination of their formula with my application. Either way, I’ve fallen in love. It’s terrible for my bank account but my nails are very happy with me. Because of this, I’ve been snapping some more up when some of the ladies I know have been wanting to part with theirs. It’s nice to only have to pay $10 instead of $15 or $17 for them. A note to all the Canadian ladies here: The Bay sells Butter London polishes for $15. It’s a discovery that I was happy to make.

This beauty is “Yummy Mummy”. The name itself doesn’t do much for me but it is a great neutral creme. I’ve been looking for a good one ever since my mini bottle of Sephora by OPI “Don’t Feed The Hand Models” has started to get down to the last leg of its life. It’s not an overly unique colour but it is lovely. If you have the chance to snap it up for less than full price, I’d say go for it. If not I’m sure you can find an OPI, Chine Glaze, or Zoya that is probably very similar for cheaper. I don’t know of any dupes off the top of my head but I am sure that they are out there.
